1. Keep the bandage on for at least 2–4 hours after the procedure unless otherwise instructed.

2. Wash your hands thoroughly before touching your tattoo.

3. Remove the bandage carefully and wash the tattoo gently with lukewarm water and mild, fragrance-free antibacterial soap. Do not scrub.

4. Pat dry with a clean paper towel or allow to air dry. Avoid cloth towels that may harbor bacteria.

5. Apply a THIN LAYER of a fragrance-free, tattoo-approved ointment (such as Aquaphor or A&D) Avoid petroleum jelly.

6. Do not re-bandage.

Possible Side Effects

• Mild redness, swelling, or tenderness during the first 48 hours is normal.

• Itching and light peeling may occur during the healing process.

• Clear or light fluid discharge is common in the first day.

Activity Restrictions

• Avoid swimming, hot tubs, saunas, and prolonged soaking for at least 2–3 weeks.

• Do not expose tattoo to direct sunlight or tanning beds until fully healed.

• Avoid strenuous activity that may cause excessive sweating or friction on the tattooed area for the first few days.

• Do not pick, scratch, or peel scabs; allow them to fall off naturally.

Warning Signs – Contact a Physician If You Notice:

• Severe redness, swelling, or pain that worsens after 48 hours.

• Pus, foul odor, or excessive discharge.

• A rash, hives, or severe itching (possible allergic reaction).

• Fever, chills, or flu-like symptoms.

Healing Duration

• Initial healing generally takes 2–3 weeks, depending on size, placement, and individual health.

• Full internal healing of the skin may take up to 6–8 weeks.

Important Notice

If an infection or adverse reaction occurs at your procedure site, contact your personal physician immediately and report the incident to the Southern Nevada Health District Special Programs at (702)759-0677 or bodyart@snhd.org.

Additional Helpful Information

• Drink plenty of water and maintain a healthy diet to support healing.

• Wear loose, breathable clothing over the tattoo to avoid irritation.

• Avoid applying heavy lotions, perfumes, or makeup on the tattoo during healing.

• Once healed, protect your tattoo with sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) to preserve its appearance.
